I wake up bright and early at 11 am each Saturday morning to the sound of the birds chirping and licks from my Australian shepherd's face. Little does he know I will be leaving him for other dogs that are actually in need. I turn on my car and head out the driveway. I think about the dogs and treats I will give the dogs that day. A peanut butter bone? A mint flavored treat? I finally arrive at the Wags and Walks center located on Wilshire Blvd. The magical rescue animal-filled playhouse includes a grassy area with a playpen, treats galore, and puppies and dogs waiting for their forever home. I look at each of the big cages to see which dogs to walk for the hour of time I booked to have with them. Their bright eyes look at me, begging for their 4th walk of the day. I take a pitbull who has been there for 8 months. I do not feel bad that he hasn’t been adopted, since the center is so friendly to the dogs that I would live there as a human! After visiting the rescue organization, I feel an immense joy that people treat these dogs without a home so kindly. I highly recommend anyone who is an animal lover to visit this amazing place!
